A number of studies have been carried out to illustrate the capability of remote sensing and GIS technologies in natural resource studies and development planning [10,13,14,15,16]. The first pilot study in India using remote sensing and GIS was done in Karnataka state.   Metadata are provided in a database to support data searching by commonly used criteria such as spatial coverage, temporal coverage, ITP spatial resolution, and temporal resolution. 27,3 The need for mining remote sensing data is captured by a group of scholars who collaborated on a book titled Recent Advances in Remote Sensing and GIS in Sub.
